George Inness, one of the most influential American artists of the 19th century, is my favorite painter and who I often look to for inspiration. Early in my art education as a teenager I copied many of his paintings, one in particular called “The Storm”hangs in my living room. My painting “Stormy Weather” was inspired by that painting while also using a photo reference from a friend. The photo reference was quite vague… I don’t know where it was taken and really could not see much detail of the landscape, but the colors in the storm clouds and nondescript landscape in the photo allowed me to not pay attention to specific details and I was able to concentrate more on mood and my own sense of place in my painting.Discover Artist
